Youtheatre

YOUTHEATRE is a program in which students are able to learn about theatre productions by presenting one act plays.  Third through ninth graders act in productions while seasoned high school students function as directors.  Adult staff provides needed support.

Youtheatre typically produces about 8 shows.  A typical show has 3-6 student directors and about 20 student actors drawn from schools in Bay City and the surrounding area.

While this year's schedule is not yet set, it will probably be a format similar to previous seasons.  A typical Youtheatre season usually begins with signup at 10:00 am at the Bay City Players theatre on the 1st or 2nd Saturday of March.  Registration in the past has been $30 which includes a t-shirt and limited to 160 participants.

Weekly Saturday morning workshops of an hour and a half continue (with breaks corresponding to spring vacation for the Bay City Schools) until the show is presented, usually about the third week of June.

In addition, about the middle of May, half of the shows will begin Monday & Wednesday 6-8 pm rehearsals while the other half begins Tuesday & Thursday 6-8 pm rehearsals.  Dress rehearsals will occur the Tuesday and Wednesday before the performances, which will be about the third Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in June.

For any given season, the dates may move around a little.  For further information please contact the Bay City Players Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at (989) 893-5555.
